Division Safety Officer/Safety Officer II

Position Details

Location: Division 8 Safety Officer II, Carthage Division Office

Salary Range: $53,164 – $93,038

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate heavy truck driver applicants, including processing and interpreting driver records checks.
  • Manage fleet safety program: coordinate road testing, conduct training, and certify heavy truck drivers.
  • Conduct safety training sessions: new employee orientation, fleet safety, forklift operation, fire safety, flagging, fall protection, confined space, hazard communication, among others.
  • Maintain equipment and injury statistics; assist in Workers Compensation administration.
  • Assist in safety meetings, audits, and coordinate safety testing.
  • Support division managers in safety program administration and compliance with safety laws and regulations.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of State, Federal, and OSHA safety standards.
  • Experience developing and presenting safety training programs.
  • Ability to recognize unsafe conditions and determine corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of Workers’ Compensation Act and OSHA regulations.
  • Experience interpreting policies, procedures, and laws.
Additional Requirements
  • Work in adverse weather and difficult terrain; operate motor vehicles safely in all conditions.
  • Knowledge of CDL laws and NCDMV requirements.
  • Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to develop and deliver large-group safety training.
  • Must be able to operate CDL-required equipment, with or within 360 days of hire, and possess or obtain a CDL with Tanker endorsement.
  • Pre-employment drug testing and background checks required.
  • Safety toe footwear required.
Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in safety management, occupational safety, industrial technology, or physical sciences, plus 2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
