Job summary

Cooper Tacia General Contracting is seeking a Division Manager for its Richmond, VA office to drive full P&L accountability, set division goals, and execute plans with a focus on profitability and growth. The role demands leadership of office staff, BD, preconstruction and project management teams, and building strong relationships with owners and municipalities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or construction management with extensive experience in running all aspects of construction.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience running a general contracting business or construction business unit with full P&L responsibility.
• Advanced business degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Full P&L oversight and accountability for the division—reporting as required.
• Direct oversight of office staff, preconstruction leads, BD leads, project management leads, and related hiring/training responsibilities.
• Lead and develop division plans, budgets and KPI tracking; ensure timely project completion with profitability.
• Serve as the division's public face; participate in civic activities and community meetings; promote local partnerships.
• Develop operating budgets and multi-year strategic plans (1, 3, 5-year).

We are currently seeking a Division Manager for our newest office in Richmond, VA location. The Division Manager runs their own business within the Cooper Tacia organization and is responsible for all aspects thereof. Without regard to priority, the list of responsibilities includes: full P&L responsibilities, setting goals and ensuring the division meets the financial benchmarks, creating and managing division plans and budgets, enforcing policies and managing hiring and team development. The Division Manager is the face of Cooper Tacia in their market and should be recognized as such, both business-wise and civic-wise.

  • Getting to know key players at the municipalities is important in order for Cooper Tacia to be a recognized force when bidding local work.
• Project execution is your responsibility and paramount to our growth. We have to consistently complete projects on time and maintain profitability while also building relationships with the design teams and the client.
  • Build and develop seamless project teams that work together from inside the office to the field.
  • Ensure all legal issues are addressed.
• Development and tracking of operating budgets that support our growth and planning while also empowering our department leaders.
• Planning for the future is essential; our business can’t existing and grow without a plan.

• You are the public spokesperson for the business unit you manage. Attend public meetings and get involved in the areas we do business.

• Other tasks / initiatives as requested by the corporate management.

  • Work with HR to ensure staffing goals are met and we continually attract the right talent.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or construction management with extensive experience in running all aspects of construction. A keen understanding of business and risk management is expected.
  • Advanced business degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience running a general contracting business or construction business unit (construction) with full P&L responsibility.
