Job summary

• 15 years of progressive supply chain, procurement, sourcing, or operations experience.
• 5+ years of leadership experience managing supply chain teams and strategic supplier relationships.
• Experience in strategic sourcing, contract negotiations, supplier management, and cost reduction initiatives; roadmap experience preferred.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, or other complex industrial environments preferred; aerospace experience strongly preferred.

Job Purpose

The Supply Chain Division Leader is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for all supply chain, procurement, sourcing, logistics, inventory management, and supplier development activities. This role drives supply chain performance through cost optimization, risk mitigation, supplier management, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring alignment with company objectives. The Supply Chain Leader manages cross-functional teams and collaborates with engineering, manufacturing, quality, finance, and executive leadership to support business growth and operational excellence. This leadership responsibility is for the full supply chain lifecycle, from strategic sourcing and supplier development through procurement operations and organizational leadership.

Key Accountabilities

Strategic Supply Chain Management — 20%

• Develop short- and long-term strategies, including a ten-year roadmap and buying strategies for both platforms.
• Lead supply chain readiness and translate strategy into priorities, KPIs, and corrective actions.

Procurement and Strategic Sourcing — 20%

• Lead direct and indirect procurement, supplier selection, qualification, sourcing, and contract management.
• Direct RFI/RFP/RFQ activity and lead commercial negotiations and contract review.

Supplier Performance Management — 20%

• Monitor supplier quality, cost, delivery, responsiveness, and risk.
• Lead supplier reviews, corrective actions, development, and timely resolution of defects and part failures.

Cross-Functional Leadership — 20%

• Lead and develop the supply chain team through coaching, ownership, and empowerment.
• Build trusted relationships and lead collaboration across functions, suppliers, and senior leadership.

Operational Excellence — 20%

• • Oversee warehousing, logistics, inventory, supplier communications, and ERP planning.
  • Drive part availability, inventory, delivery, supplier quality, MBOM cost, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Minimum Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
• Master’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.

Minimum Experience

• 15 years of progressive supply chain, procurement, sourcing, or operations experience.
• 5+ years of leadership experience managing supply chain teams and strategic supplier relationships.
• Demonstrated success in strategic sourcing, contract negotiations, supplier management, and cost reduction initiatives. Contract review and strategic roadmap experience preferred.
• Experience supporting manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, defense, or other complex industrial environments preferred. Aerospace experience strongly preferred.
• Experience across multiple supply chain disciplines.

Other Job-Specific Skills

• Broad knowledge of supply chain management, procurement, logistics, inventory control, and supplier quality systems. Supplier development and ERP planning knowledge preferred.
• Advanced negotiation, analytical, problem-solving, and cost-modeling skills. Ability to evaluate commercial terms, contract language, MBOM cost, inventory, working capital, and cost of goods sold.
• Ability to lead organizational change, complex cross-functional initiatives, sourcing strategies, and continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across all organizational levels. Confident executive and supplier communication with a collaborative, empowering leadership style.
• Proficiency with ERP systems, Microsoft Office, dashboards, and performance reviews. Ability to learn systems quickly and work hands-on.
• Knowledge of procurement policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, Lean, and Six Sigma.

Decisions Expected

• Develop and execute supply chain strategies that support short-term and long-term business objectives.
• Lead supplier selection, qualification, and contract management processes.
• Oversee procurement operations, inventory management processes, logistics activities, and supplier communications.
• Direct Request for Information (RFI), Request for Proposal (RFP), and Request for Quotation (RFQ) activities.
• Identify and mitigate supply chain risks through proactive planning and supplier diversification.

Working Conditions

• Office floor environment. 100% onsite at Honda Aircraft Company in Greensboro, North Carolina.
• Frequent interaction with cross-functional teams. Includes suppliers and executive leadership.
• Occasional extended hours to support project deadlines and executive deliverables.
• Travel up to 35%; Honda white coat required and provided.
