Job summary

Iowa Department of Education seeks a Division Administrator to lead PK-12 Learning divisions and execute strategic priorities. You will direct staffing, program delivery, and policy implementation across standards, school improvement, and federal programs.

You will collaborate with the DE Executive Leadership Team and the State Board to advance four priorities, shaping teachers, literacy, equity, and pathways to postsecondary success. Strong communication and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Seven years of full-time management-level work experience in finance, human resources, engineering, law, social work, regulation, data processing, or program research or evaluation.
• Experience coordinating development of legislation, administrative rules, and legislative proposals.
• Ability to lead diverse teams and manage complex programs.

Responsibilities

• Oversee PK-12 Learning Bureaus and divisions such as Academics, Standards and Learner Supports, School Improvement, and Federal Programs.
• Lead hiring, management, and evaluation of division staff; administer personnel policies.
• Coordinate with DE Executive Leadership, State Board of Education, and stakeholders to advance priority goals.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal law, administer funds and programs, and identify best practices for replication.
• Communicate effectively with Director, Deputy Directors, and Bureau Chiefs and foster stakeholder partnerships.
