Knape & Vogt Manufacturing Company in Grand Rapids, MI, invites you to join our Finance team as a Division Controller responsible for accounting, financial reporting, planning, analysis, working capital and internal controls within a manufacturing setting.

You will partner with the Division President and corporate leaders to improve performance, lead the month-end close, monitor budget variances, and translate financial results into actionable insights to support strategic decisions.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience in accounting or finance, with controlling and/or cost accounting preferred.
• Manufacturing experience is preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Division President to improve financial and operational performance of the division.
• Provide financial guidance and leadership to the division’s leadership team.
• Collaborate with Corporate Controller and CFO to improve reporting, analysis, and performance management.
• Translate financial results into actionable insights for strategic decisions.
• Lead and own the monthly close process for the division.
• Maintain a monthly close checklist and ensure timely, accurate reporting and consolidation.
• Monitor performance against budget and prior year; explain variances.
• Present division financials to Division President and corporate team; highlight variances and trends.
• Identify opportunities to improve profitability, cash flow, and working capital.
• Ensure US GAAP compliance and company policies.
• Oversee general ledger activity, reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries.

What You Will Get To Do:

• Partner with the Division President to improve financial and operational performance of the division
• Serve as a key member of the division leadership team, providing financial guidance and operational leadership to the overall organization
• Collaborate with the Corporate Controller and CFO to improve financial reporting, analysis, and performance management of the division
• Translate financial results into actionable insights that support strategic decision making
• Lead/own the month end close process for the division
• Maintain a monthly close checklist; ensure timely, accurate month end close and complete financial reporting; work closely with corporate finance and accounting on the month end close and consolidation process
• Monitor performance against budget and prior year and provide clear explanations of key variances
• Prepare and present the division financials and performance to the Division President and corporate accounting and finance team; identify significant variances, trends, and areas requiring management attention
• Identify opportunities to improve profitability, cash flow, working capital, and overall financial performance.
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP and company accounting policies
• Oversee general ledger activity, account reconciliations, accruals, journal entries and other accounting

What You Will Bring

• Work Experience: 5-7 year of experience in Accounting or Finance; Controlling and/or Cost Accounting experience highly preferred; manufacturing experience preferred
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
• Technical knowledge : Expertise in all aspects of GAAP reporting standards and requirements, corporate finance, accounting, internal controls, corporate development and finance and accounting systems, cost accounting and variance analysis.
• Computer Skills: Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (strong Excel skills), previous experience working with Business Intelligence tools, ERP system and financial reporting & planning software
• Organizational Skills: In-depth knowledge of successful finance and operations strategies and systems to assure tight controls and sound financial reporting, business planning and forecasting
