The Margaret M. and Albert B. Alkek Department of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) in Houston is seeking a new Chief for the Division of Cardiology. The Division of Cardiology at BCM is renowned for its comprehensive cardiovascular care and cutting-edge research including advanced treatments for heart failure, structural heart disease, electrophysiology, congenital heart conditions, and lipid disorders. The Division is comprised of 64 faculty and 51 fellows working in three adult practice pavilions: Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center, the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, and Ben Taub Hospital.
Baylor College of Medicine recently announced a historic integration between BCM and Texas Heart Institute. This integration will expand the college's reach in cardiovascular patient care, research, and education.
The new Chief will provide strategic leadership to a nationally recognized section, fostering and overseeing excellence and growth in translational research, patient care, and education. The Chief will be responsible for recruitment, mentoring and supporting faculty development, and clinical and research training of fellows, residents, and medical students. The Chief is also expected to grow collaborative relationships with affiliated hospitals and healthcare organizations.
Candidates must be board certified in Cardiology, ideally with advanced subspecialty training, have at least 10 years of experience as an academic faculty, a record of scholarly accomplishments, and progressive management or leadership experience that would qualify for the rank of Associate or full Professor of Medicine.
