Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two or more years of construction estimating or related experience; education may substitute for some experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specs, schedules, addenda, and bid documents.
  • Working knowledge of quantity takeoffs, construction pricing, scope analysis, and bid preparation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word, with ability to learn estimating software.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication and ability to manage multiple deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Review invitations to bid, drawings, specifications, addenda, schedules, and contract documents to determine the complete Division 10 scope.
  • Complete detailed quantity takeoffs and estimate material, labor, equipment, freight, tax, subcontractor, and related project costs.
  • Estimate specialty products such as toilet compartments, lockers, walls, signage, and related items.
  • Identify scope gaps, discrepancies, alternates, allowances, substitutions, and request clarification when needed.
  • Solicit and evaluate manufacturer, supplier, and subcontractor quotations for price, compliance, availability, and lead time.
  • Prepare professional proposals that clearly state scope, pricing, alternates, exclusions, clarifications, assumptions, and applicable terms.
  • Communicate with general contractors and customers about bid requirements, scope questions, value-engineering options, and proposal revisions.
  • Track bid activity and results, support negotiations and post-bid follow-up, and coordinate a thorough turnover of awarded work to project management.
  • Maintain organized estimate files, vendor pricing, bid calendars, and follow-up activity in company systems.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a detail-oriented Division 10 Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive estimates for commercial construction projects involving specialty products and systems. You will turn plans and specifications into well-defined scopes, reliable pricing, and professional proposals while partnering with customers, vendors, project management, and field operations.

What You Will Do
  • Review invitations to bid, drawings, specifications, addenda, schedules, and contract documents to determine the complete Division 10 scope.
  • Complete detailed quantity takeoffs and estimate material, labor, equipment, freight, tax, subcontractor, and related project costs.
  • Estimate specialty products such as toilet compartments and accessories, lockers and benches, wall protection, signage, visual display surfaces, fire-protection specialties, postal specialties, flagpoles, and related items.
  • Identify scope gaps, discrepancies, alternates, allowances, substitutions, and unusual conditions, and request clarification when needed.
  • Solicit and evaluate manufacturer, supplier, and subcontractor quotations for price, compliance, availability, and lead time.
  • Prepare professional proposals that clearly state scope, pricing, alternates, exclusions, clarifications, assumptions, and applicable terms.
  • Communicate with general contractors and customers about bid requirements, scope questions, value-engineering options, and proposal revisions.

What You Bring

  • Two or more years of construction estimating, specialty contracting, construction administration, or closely related experience; relevant education may substitute for some experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, schedules, addenda, and bid documents.
  • Working knowledge of quantity takeoffs, construction pricing, scope analysis, and bid preparation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word, with the ability to learn estimating and project management software.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication and the ability to manage multiple deadlines without sacrificing accuracy.
Preferred Experience
  • Division 10 estimating experience in commercial, institutional, multifamily, hospitality, healthcare, or public-sector construction.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, business, or a related field.
  • Experience with takeoffs and estimating platforms.
  • Knowledge of manufacturer product lines, accessibility requirements, building codes, submittals, and procurement lead times for Division 10 work.

This position primarily works in an office environment using a computer, telephone, and standard office equipment.
