Overview
The Dive Construction Business Unit Safety Manager (Dive Safety Manager) is a liaison position between diving operations and the Vice President of Safety and Compliance. The Dive Safety Manager will oversee the corporate safety program across all subsidiaries within the Dive Construction Business Unit (DCBU). The DCBU Safety Manager will work in partnership with the DCBU Management Team to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals involved in activities under the DCBU portfolio and will work closely with the Company’s Safety Training Manager to develop and deliver applicable training programs. The Dive Safety Manager will be a Moran Environmental Recovery employee.
Role And Responsibilities
- Manage Dive Safety Team
- Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive dive, construction, and maritime safety programs and policies.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to diving, construction, and maritime safety.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments for DCBU operations.
- Identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
- Stay abreast of industry regulations and standards related to diving, construction, and maritime safety.
- Ensure that all DCBU activities comply with local, national, and international (where applicable) regulations.
- Communicate with project managers, dive teams, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding of safety protocols.
- Collaborate with other safety professionals to integrate diving, construction, and maritime safety into overall safety programs.
- Conduct thorough investigations of incidents and near misses.
- Implement corrective actions to prevent the recurrence of incidents.
- Maintain detailed records of dive operations, including safety procedures, equipment inspections, and incident reports.
- Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Work with applicable stakeholders to establish and enforce medical fitness standards for divers.
- Collaborate with medical professionals to ensure divers are physically and mentally fit for diving.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans for diving incidents.
- Conduct drills and exercises to ensure team preparedness for emergencies.
- Coordinate and provide training for dive personnel, including divers, support staff, and supervisors, working with the Company’s Safety Training Team.
- Ensure personnel involved in diving activities hold necessary certifications and qualifications.
- Support inspection and maintenance of diving equipment to meet safety standards.
- Regularly review and update dive safety procedures based on lessons learned and industry standards.
- Seek continuous improvement in diving safety practices.
- Ensure Safety Team completes and performs job site kickoffs, visits, and audits per company and client standards.
- Conduct internal safety and compliance assessments at jobsites.
- Participate in relevant meetings, representing the safety interests of the company.
- Communicate and collaborate with third parties, including insurance brokers and providers.
Compensation and Benefits
Annual base salary in Seattle, WA: $100,000 - $125,000. Actual offer depends on skills and experience. Benefits include:

Qualifications and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Certifications such as CSP, ASP, CHST, OHST or similar
- 5-10 years of dive or marine safety experience
- Valid driver’s license
Required Skills and Experience
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic applications
- Knowledge of ADCI, USCG, OSHA, NFPA, DOT, EPA regulations
- Understanding of dive industry equipment requirements
- Knowledge of Worker’s Compensation, USL&H, Jones Act Claims
- Ability to travel and respond to emergencies after hours
- Strong knowledge of Root Cause Analysis
