Job summary

Township of Union Public Schools is seeking a qualified Supervisor of Special Education for the 2026-2027 school year. The role focuses on leading CST staff, ensuring compliance with NJDOE and NJAC 6A:14, and coordinating services for students with disabilities.

The ideal candidate has a NJ Supervisor Certificate, extensive experience in special education leadership, and a track record of policy and program development within a school district.

Qualifications

• Valid New Jersey Supervisor Certificate required.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as CST member/case manager (School Psychologist, Social Worker, or LDTC).
• Experience as supervisor of special services preferred.
• Knowledge of therapeutic service providers and related requirements.
• Ability to collect and interpret data to guide instruction.
• Knowledge of NJAC 6A:14 Safeguards and state law compliance.
• Experience with multidisciplinary assessments for eligibility for Special Education services.
• Strong knowledge of classroom management and interventions for educational disabilities.
• Demonstrates effective use of administrative and instructional technology.
• Ability to establish strong relationships with school, district and community stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee certified staff to meet NJ learning standards and district goals.
• Provide instructional leadership and ensure approved curricula and materials are used.
• Assist staff in communicating with parents about programs and student progress.
• Support professional growth through meetings, workshops, and coursework.
• Oversee resources to enhance instructional programs and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Attend meetings and report on district education goals.
• Conduct evaluations using BOE-approved tools and provide feedback.
• Develop PD needs and design workshops related to special education and inclusion.
• Ensure compliance with NJDOE requirements for evaluations, SGOs, and IEPs.
• Oversee CST, Related Service Providers, Special Education staff and paraprofessionals.
• Coordinate Extended School Year programs and monitor progress.
