Job summary

GARRETT MORGAN ELEMENTARY in Lexington, Kentucky is hiring a Districtwide Special Education Paraeducator (1.0 FTE). You will assist certified teachers, support health-related activities, and help maintain a safe, inclusive classroom focused on quality instruction for students with special needs.

The role requires background working with youth and a willingness to collaborate with professional staff to implement individual education plans.

Qualifications

• Minimum 48 college credit hours or successful completion of the Kentucky Paraeducator Assessment or completion of an Associate's Degree.
• Experience working with youth in an organized setting and some instructional experience in a classroom environment working with children and parents with special needs, multi-cultural and multi-ethnic backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist certified teachers in implementing instructional practices and maintaining an inclusive learning environment.
• Assist teachers with health-related procedures and daily classroom activities.
• Maintain student records and attendance in accordance with laws and district policies.
• Monitor student progress in academic and behavioral areas and report concerns to teachers.
• Follow teacher plans and contribute to team decisions and professional development.
