Job summary

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively with teachers, students, and families.
• Ability to maintain student data and classroom records.

Responsibilities

• Assist certified teachers in implementing instructional practices and maintaining a safe, supportive learning environment.
• Promote student independence across educational settings.
• Assist with health-related procedures and maintain records of such activities.
• Keep student data current and report concerns to teachers.
• Under supervision, implement learning strategies and instructional procedures in school and non-school settings.
• Support teacher-developed plans to enhance academic skills.
• Assist with community-based instruction and non-academic activities.
• Use age-appropriate language and reinforcement procedures.
• Prepare instructional materials and maintain classroom records.
• Monitor student progress in academic, social, and behavioral development.
• Maintain student records per laws and district policies.
• Implement behavior plans including safe crisis management and, if necessary, lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Monitor students in non-academic environments like lunchrooms and buses.
• Direct group activities and assist in lunchroom duties and drills.
