Job summary

Irving ISD is seeking a Counselor to implement and evaluate a districtwide guidance program. The role reports to the Principal and will support personal growth, academic planning, and career awareness for students across campuses.

The ideal candidate has a Master's degree with Texas School Counselor certification and at least two years of teaching or counseling experience. Exempt status, 195–220 day calendars depending on campus, and strong collaboration skills are expected.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree required.
  • Valid Texas Teaching Certificate and valid School Counselor Certification.
  • Two years of teaching or school counseling experience as outlined by the Texas SBOE.

Responsibilities

  • Uses a planning process to define needs, priorities and program.
  • Implements a comprehensive and balanced guidance program.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of activities and overall program.
  • Educates staff, parents and community about the guidance program.
  • Teaches the school developmental guidance curriculum.
  • Teaches guidance units and counsels individual students with presenting needs/concerns.
  • Coordinates with school and community personnel to bring together resources for students.
  • Maintains a communication system to disseminate student information to professionals.
  • Participates in referral processes for students to district programs and community agencies.
  • Maintains confidentiality of student records and data.
