Job summary

RSU 23 Old Orchard Beach Schools is seeking a part-time school bus driver to serve as a substitute district-wide. The role involves picking up and dropping off students, adhering to strict schedules, and performing safety checks on the bus.

The candidate must pass a physical exam within 60 days, complete a DOT drug/alcohol history check, maintain a clean driving record, and meet citizenship/residency/work visa requirements.

Qualifications

• Physical examination by a licensed Doctor within 60 days prior to employment.
• Drug and Alcohol history check for DOT testing; no addiction to alcohol or narcotics.
• Maintains a clean driving record to maintain driver's license.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

• Obey all state and federal traffic laws and district regulations.
• Picks up and drops off students at authorized stops adhering to strict time schedules.
• Conducts daily pre/post exterior and interior safety checks of the bus and reports issues.
• Maintains discipline and enforces student conduct on the bus.
• Reports behavior problems to the Administrator.
• Reports accidents and completes required reports.
• Notifies the Director of Transportation and Maintenance of delays or issues.
• Inspects bus after each run to ensure no students remain onboard.
• Refer bus stop change requests to the Director for approval.
• Exhibits professional conduct, confidentiality and proper language.
• Sets a good example in hygiene, neatness and dress.
• Maintains communication with Director regarding health and wellness issues.
