Job summary

Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) is seeking an Assistant District Engineer in Phoenix to oversee construction, development and operations within the District. You will lead and develop staff, manage budgets, and represent the agency in meetings with local and state partners to address public needs and issues.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree, PE license, and at least five years of relevant experience, with driving as an essential function.

Qualifications

Bachelor or Master of Science in Civil Engineering with five years of related experience.
Professional Engineer (PE) certification required at hire; must obtain AZ PE within 6 months.
Accredited degree in Civil Engineering or related highway construction field.
Valid driver's license and ability to operate a state vehicle.

Responsibilities

Oversee Administration and Management of Construction, Development and Operations groups in the District.
Provide leadership, management, supervision, coaching and guidance to District personnel.
Develop budgets, authorize expenditures, and sign financial and contract documents.
Serve as liaison with local, state, and federal agencies and stakeholders; respond to inquiries.
Prepare recommendations for the District Engineer and generate technical and administrative reports.
Model ADOT values by leading, coaching and developing problem solvers for continuous improvement.
