Job Purpose and Summary: At CVS Health, we are focused on transforming health care for our customers and making our company a great place to work. We help people navigate the health care system – and their personal health care – by improving access, lowering costs, and being a trusted partner for every meaningful moment of health. Within our Retail locations, we bring this promise to life with heart every day. Our District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence within each pharmacy by acting as role models, demonstrating genuine care, and setting the bar for the pharmacy team. As a DSP, you have a critical role at the forefront of delivering our purpose, modeling our values, and demonstrating authentic care for our patients. You will work within the district to cover pharmacist scheduling gaps, under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager (PM) and Rx District Leader (DL), supporting pharmacy teams. Your responsibilities include supporting the management, oversight, and operation of the pharmacy and pharmacy team, including:

  1. Living our purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
  2. Traveling the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled by the District Performance Coordinator (DPC); overseeing the pharmacy and serving as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts without overlap.
  3. Supporting safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and utilizing safety guardrails.
  4. Assuming Pharmacy Manager’s duties when serving as the primary pharmacist-on-duty.
  5. Contributing to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, coaching the pharmacy team, and resolving insurance or medication issues.
  6. Offering and delivering immunizations to keep patients healthy, supporting Pharmacy Technicians in immunization training.
  7. Managing pharmacy inventory effectively, focusing on protecting cold chain products.
  8. Remaining flexible for scheduling and business needs, and maintaining relevant clinical and technical skills.
  9. Supporting access to care through pharmacist-delivered clinical services where permissible.
  10. Understanding and complying with all relevant laws, regulations, standards, and policies to ensure patient safety and a safe, inclusive workplace.
