Job summary

Brainerd Public Schools seeks a School Safety and Compliance Coordinator to lead district-wide safety and security programs, monitor regulatory compliance, and coordinate with law enforcement and emergency responders. The role develops emergency operations plans, conducts risk assessments, oversees drills, and manages environmental health and safety programs to ensure a safe learning environment for students and staff.

Strong leadership and communication are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Two year degree (or equivalent professional work experience) is required.
• At least three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in school safety, crisis response/emergency management, and/or school leadership is required.
• Prior experience developing or implementing Incident Command System/National Incident Management System (ICS/NIMS) based emergency operation protocols and managing crisis situations are required.
• Certification(s) as CSSP, CEM, CPTED are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and regularly update the District's Comprehensive Emergency Operations Plan (EOP).
• Coordinate emergency drills and evaluate drills, including fire, severe weather, lockdown, evacuation, and reunification exercises.
• Lead emergency response planning and after-action reviews.
• Coordinate environmental compliance activities involving asbestos, lead, hazardous materials, and indoor air quality.
• Collaborate with facilities, HR, and school administrators to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
