Job summary

Southern California Edison is seeking a District Planning Specialist to develop and design distribution plans, interact with customers, and manage multiple projects in a hybrid work environment.

The role requires 1+ year in electrical utility design and a valid Class C Driver's License, with strong CAD/GIS and MS Office skills. Travel up to 40% and collaboration across teams are essential.

Qualifications

• 1+ year in Electrical Utility Distribution/Transmission design or related engineering.
• Valid Class C Driver's License.
• Preferred: CAD, GIS, and Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Experience in customer service, project coordination, or similar roles.
• Ability to read or create simple distribution or technical drawings.
• Planner Utility Certification and cross-team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develops and prepares construction plans, drawings, and/or circuit maps; provides cost estimates and ensures compliance with SCE policies.
• Interacts with diverse customers to meet electrical design needs and deliver successful project outcomes.
• Manages small to medium residential, commercial, and industrial projects; defines scope, methods, and construction approaches.
• Provides technical support to licensing and certification for new lines and substations.
• Maintains current knowledge of industry practices and standards.
• Coordinates environmental requirements with other departments and external bodies.
• Tracks project drawings and budget, managing timelines and expectations.
• Applies project management principles to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
• Performs field inspections to verify planning and development compliance.
• Protects company data and assets, handling sensitive information with integrity.
