Job summary

State of Nevada is seeking a Manager 2, Professional Engineer for the Nevada Department of Transportation in Elko, NV. You will oversee district-level contracts, manage staff, and ensure roadway operations and safety across field crews.

You will interact with multiple divisions, handle stormwater compliance, budget inputs, and serve as an expert witness when required. On-site role with no remote work option.

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.).
• Three years of progressively responsible engineering experience in a supervisory or project charge capacity; OR licensure with an equivalent education/experience; OR one year as Manager I, P.E. in Nevada State service; OR three years as Supervisor, P.E. in Nevada State service.

Responsibilities

• Interact with internal managers, administrators, executives and regulatory reps to solve problems and negotiate solutions.
• Direct and manage subordinate staff; establish performance standards and evaluate performance; recommend disciplinary action when necessary.
• Represent the department at hearings, meetings, and public inquiries; provide information on policies and projects.
