Job summary

RE‑1 Valley School District is seeking a District Nurse to lead the district's health services, coordinating nursing care, IHPs, and EAPs to ensure a safe, healthy learning environment across all schools.

The role collaborates with families, educators, and community providers, supports medically complex students, and ensures FERPA-compliant health records and adherence to health regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Current CPR/AED Certification.
• Ability to travel between district buildings.
• School Nurse Special Services Provider License (or ability to obtain).
• Experience working with pediatric populations.
• Knowledge of special education, Section 504, and school health regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing assessments for students with acute and chronic medical conditions.
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs).
• Develop Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) for students with significant medical needs.
• Coordinate nursing care for students with diabetes, seizures, asthma, severe allergies, feeding tubes, and other chronic health conditions.
• Provide emergency nursing care and first aid as needed.
• Evaluate students returning after illness or injury and determine school participation as appropriate.
