Job summary

Gonzales ISD WAREHOUSE is seeking a skilled Carpenter to perform construction, alteration, repair, and installation of fixtures, buildings and structures across the district. Immediate start, full-time on-site work in Gonzales, Texas.

Under general supervision, duties include planning and executing cabinet and partition construction, reading blueprints, measuring, and using hand and power tools. 2 years of carpentry experience and a valid Texas driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Education/Certification: Clear and valid Texas driver’s license.
• Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of equipment, materials, methods, practices, and tools used in carpentry.
• Ability to use hand and power tools.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instruction.
• Ability to read blueprints and diagrams.
• Ability to measure and perform mathematical calculations.
• Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Detect and complete needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment by following established inspection and maintenance procedures.
• Plan and complete construction of cabinets, shelves, and partitions from initial layout to assembly following oral instructions, plans, specifications, blueprints, and work orders.
• Select material and hardware and calculate time and materials estimates.
• Assist with the installation and moving of portable buildings including constructing steps and installing underpinning.
• Receive and complete work orders. Respond to emergency calls as needed.
• Maintain accurate records on material and labor used.
• Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean and excess materials are removed as needed.
• Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and materials.
• Work with building principals and supervisors to schedule and complete projects.
