The Market Coach is the business and people leader for the Houston market, accountable for the performance, culture, and long-term health of 20-30 restaurants representing 900+ team members and more than $54M in annual sales. Leading through Area Coaches, Sr. Area Coaches, and restaurant leaders, the Market Coach builds leadership capability, delivers sustainable sales and profit growth, protects the Taco Bell experience, and translates enterprise strategy into execution across the market.
Reporting to the Regional Director of Company Operations, you'll lead one of Taco Bell's most important markets with end-to-end accountability for people, customer, operational, and financial performance. This is an exciting opportunity for a proven multi-unit leader who can develop other leaders, create clarity through complexity, influence across functions, and deliver sustainable business results in a fast-moving environment.
The Day-to-Day:
- Lead and develop Area Coaches and Sr. Area Coaches to independently own their businesses, build high-performing restaurant leadership teams, and consistently deliver strong people, customer, operational, and financial results.
- Own market business performance across sales, transactions, restaurant margin, flow-thru, and controllable P&L drivers; use data to identify variability, prioritize opportunities, remove barriers, and drive sustainable improvement.
- Build a deep leadership bench through rigorous talent planning, succession, performance differentiation, staffing strategies, coaching, and intentional development of future Area Coaches, Market Coaches, and enterprise leaders.
- Champion operational excellence by translating brand standards, training initiatives, and business priorities into simple, repeatable market routines while creating a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Lead change across the market by translating new technology, operating models, brand initiatives, and enterprise priorities into clear execution plans while surfacing field insights that improve future solutions.
- Ensure uncompromising compliance with company policies, food safety standards, OSHA requirements, and local health and safety regulations to protect team members, customers, and the brand.
- Influence cross-functional partners across Operations Services, People & Culture, Finance, Facilities, Technology, and other functions; represent the voice of the field and mobilize the right resources to solve complex market challenges and deliver sustainable growth.
Is this you?
- 4-year College or University Degree preferred but not required; 8+ years of successful multi-unit operational leadership experience in a high-volume, customer-focused environment, with a proven track record of delivering strong business results.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through other multi-unit leaders - creating clarity, accountability, and capability without becoming the primary problem-solver for every restaurant.
- Demonstrated success coaching and developing Area Coaches, Restaurant General Managers, and other leaders while building a strong talent pipeline and ready-now succession bench.
- Proven ability to drive customer satisfaction, team member engagement, operational excellence, and financial performance across multiple locations.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to synthesize performance trends, establish a clear point of view, prioritize the biggest opportunities, and execute action plans that drive sustainable sales and profit growth.
- Comfort operating in ambiguity and leading significant organizational or operational change while maintaining performance, team engagement, and executional discipline.
- Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to represent field realities, navigate competing priorities, and align stakeholders across multiple functions.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and maintain a highly visible field presence, including nights, weekends, and critical customer dayparts, with time intentionally deployed toward talent development, business opportunities, and restaurants requiring the greatest leadership impact.
