Job summary

Sierra Pacific Industries is seeking a District Forester to manage timberlands in Oregon, implement harvest programs, permit activities, and oversee road construction and log quality control.

The successful candidate will work from Eugene or Roseburg, collaborate with state and federal agencies, develop budgets, assist silvicultural programs, and travel to remote sites across all seasons.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in forestry or related field required
• 1 year experience in harvest engineering and/or harvest unit layout preferred in Pacific Northwest
• Understanding of cable and ground-based logging systems and forest road construction
• Working knowledge of Oregon forest practice rules
• Excellent organizational skills, self-motivated, strong work ethic
• Proficiency in Word, Outlook, Excel, ArcGIS; Road Eng or CAD preferred
• Hold or obtain valid Oregon driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Implement all aspects of the timber harvest program, including harvest layout and permitting
• Administer road building and logging contracts and ensure log quality control
• Assist in developing harvest budgets and forecasts
• Collaborate on silvicultural programs including reforestation and vegetation management
• Interact with state regulatory agencies and diverse groups
• Coordinate with Federal, State, and local agencies to protect company lands from wildfires
• Hike in remote mountainous regions and work in various seasons and weather conditions
• Safely navigate hazardous mountain roads
