Job summary

Sierra Pacific Industries is hiring a District Forester to manage timberlands in Shasta and Tehama counties and to work from the Anderson district office. You will prepare THPs, administer field-operation contracts, and conduct surveys in challenging terrain while coordinating with regulatory agencies.

The role requires a California RPF license or eligibility, strong communication, and the ability to work independently and in teams under varying conditions. Competitive benefits package included.

Qualifications

• California Registered Professional Forester license or eligibility to take the exam
• Familiarity with California Forest Practice Rules and THP prep
• Understanding of logging, road construction, and reforestation operations
• Excellent communication skills, self-motivated, strong work ethic
• Proficient computer skills including Word, Excel, GIS-based software

Responsibilities

• Prepare Timber Harvest Plans (THPs) with research, fieldwork, mapping and writing
• Administer contracts for field operations including logging and road work
• Conduct botanical, wildlife, archeological, road and watercourse surveys
• Collaborate on reforestation activities such as planting and site prep
• Interact with state regulatory agencies and diverse groups
• Work in a wide range of weather and field conditions
• Hike in remote mountainous regions using maps, compass and GPS
• Work independently and in teams in remote areas
• Assist in other district forestry work as needed
