Job summary

Sierra Pacific Industries, a fourth-generation family‑owned company, is hiring a District Forester to manage timberlands in Shasta, Lassen, Modoc and Siskiyou counties from the Burney district office in California. The role requires THP preparation, contract administration, field surveys, and collaboration with regulators and reforestation teams.

Qualifications

• California RPF license or eligibility to obtain it.
• Familiarity with California Forest Practice Rules and THP prep.
• Understanding of logging, road construction, and reforestation ops.
• Excellent communication, self-motivated, strong work ethic.
• Proficient Word, Excel, and GIS-based software.
• Able to work independently and in a team.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate 4WD.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Timber Harvest Plans (THPs) with research, field work, mapping, and writing.
• Administer contracts for field operations including logging and road work.
• Conduct botanical, wildlife, archeological, road, and watercourse surveys.
• Collaborate in reforestation activities, including planting and site prep.
• Interact with state regulatory agencies and diverse groups.
• Perform forestry project work in various weather conditions.
• Hike in remote mountainous regions using maps, compass, GPS.
• Work in teams or independently in remote areas.
• Assist and collaborate in other district forestry tasks.
