Job summary

Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation is seeking a District Officer to supervise a forestry management district, directing timber sale administration, cruising, silvicultural development, and log scaling to sustain long-term productivity while protecting tribal resources.

The role includes leadership for Wildland Fire Management (up to 10% of duties) and requires strong supervisory, budgeting, and cross-program collaboration skills within tribal and federal environments.

Qualifications

• Requires a Masters or Bachelors in Forestry/Natural Resources with professional supervisory experience.
• Active NWCG certification in one of defined pathways is required.
• Washington State Driver's License with tribal vehicle insurance eligibility.
• Must possess an annual NWCG Work Capacity Test (WCT) clearance.

Responsibilities

• Oversees district operations including timber sale administration, presales layout, cruising, forest engineering, silvicultural development, and log scaling.
• Provides operational/technical leadership to Wildland Fire Management program (up to ~10% of duties).
• Directs multi-crew workloads, budgets, personnel evaluation, and conflict resolution.
• Ensures compliance with tribal and federal environmental and trust frameworks.
