Job summary

Indian Health Service is seeking a District Engineer within the Sanitation Facilities Construction program to oversee design and construction of water, sewer, and solid waste facilities for American Indian Tribes. You will supervise engineers, guide project planning, and ensure quality across technical and regulatory processes.

The role requires PE licensure, an ABET-accredited engineering degree, and substantial professional engineering experience in civil/environmental projects.

Qualifications

• Professional Engineering (PE) license required.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum experience: professional engineering work in civil/environmental projects.

Responsibilities

• Directing, planning, and coordinating design and construction of water, sewer, and solid waste facilities for American Indian Tribes.
• Supervising project engineers and staff; ensuring data quality and STARS reporting.
• Preparing design documents, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for funded projects.
• Reviewing design and construction practices; making recommendations to DSFC leadership.
• Ensuring compliance with safety, licensing, and regulatory requirements.
