Job summary

Indian Health Service is seeking a Civil/Environmental Engineer to plan, design, and oversee water, wastewater, and solid waste facilities serving American Indian homes. You will prepare project summaries, construction documents, and cost estimates, and supervise technical staff in tribal communities.

The role requires a solid engineering background, eligibility for professional licensure, and willingness to travel to communities to oversee projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering from ABET-accredited program or equivalent with a strong foundation in engineering science.
• Combination of education and experience demonstrating knowledge of engineering principles and their applications.
• Professional registration/licensure as an Engineer in Training (EIT) / Professional Engineer (PE) is highly desirable or must be obtained.”

Responsibilities

• Perform professional engineering planning, design, and construction oversight for water supply, wastewater, and solid waste facilities.
• Prepare project summaries, construction documents, and final reports with accurate cost estimates.
• Visit tribal communities where projects are planned or constructed and supervise staff as a first-level supervisor.
