Job summary

The Minnesota Department of Transportation seeks an Assistant District Engineer, Program Development to lead engineering and administrative functions for District 1's highway improvement program. You will oversee planning, traffic engineering, project management, right of way, and surveying to ensure timely, well-coordinated project readiness.

The role requires licensure as a Professional Engineer and at least five years post-registration experience, including leadership of multidisciplinary

Qualifications

• Five years of professional post-registration experience, of which three years must be at the Engineer Principal level or equivalent.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary transportation program development including planning, traffic analysis, project scoping, environmental review, right of way, and surveying.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with experience managing staff and budgets.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering and administrative functions shaping MnDOT District 1 project pipelines, including planning and traffic engineering.
• Provide executive oversight of early project planning and scoping, and ensure ready-for-design and construction readiness.
• Coordinate work across teams and external partners to align resources and ensure fiscal responsibility.
