Job summary

Nampa School District is seeking a Community and Media Relations Specialist to raise positive awareness of the district, its schools and students, and to articulate the district's mission, vision, and beliefs.

Under the Executive Director of Operations, you will build and maintain relationships with the local community, plan proactive communications, manage media inquiries, and support district initiatives, elections communications, and brand promotion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, public relations, marketing or related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in community relations, public relations or related field.
• Prior experience in public education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the communication liaison between the media, community organizations and the District.
• Represents the District by actively participating in community boards, city committees, and local service clubs and organizations.
• Writes news releases for local newspapers, television and radio stations.
• Assists with social media accounts and provides content for district page and support for schools’ Facebook, Twitter, and others.
• Responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring a comprehensive plan for internal and external communication.
• Researches and analyzes district programs and communicates positive outcomes to the community.
• Cooperates with district administrators in publicizing District initiatives and special programs.
• Responds to community inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
• Public Records Requests
• Speaks at staff, parent, and community meetings on behalf of the District.
