Job summary

University of Missouri-Columbia seeks a Special Education Improvement Consultant to provide training, coaching, and technical assistance to LEAs in Missouri. The role emphasizes implementing evidence-based practices that raise academic achievement and postsecondary readiness for students with disabilities.

You will support districts with college- and career-ready planning, deliver high-quality professional development, and participate in system-wide improvement efforts with DESE and RPDC.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of state and federal special education requirements (IDEA Part B).
• Experience with MLS, DLM Elements, MSIP, MAP/MAP-A, and MSIP.
• Experience with IEPs, SDI, co-teaching, accommodations, and effective teaching practices.
• Experience with RTI/MTSS, SW-PBS, and evidence-based interventions.
• Experience in data-driven decision making and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide training, coaching, consultation, and technical assistance to LEA staff.
• Support implementation of evidence-based instructional practices to improve outcomes.
• Assist districts with college- and career-ready planning and transitions.
• Deliver high-quality professional development using DESE-approved materials.
• Participate in district/school improvement planning and collaboration with RPDC/DESE.
• Mentor new Improvement Consultants and help revise training materials.
• Attend required meetings, trainings, and conferences including PTTI.
• Participate in development of FY27 credentialing processes.
