Job summary

MedCare Ambulance is seeking an Operations Supervisor (Paramedic) for District 20 (Marion, Mansfield) on the night shift. You will lead frontline staff, coordinate district operations, and perform clinical duties on every shift, while upholding our Paramedic standards and company values.

The role requires valid paramedic certification (Ohio preferred), strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, plus the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • Paramedic certification preferred; must maintain current certifications.
  • Minimum three years of clinical pre-hospital experience preferred.
  • Minimum two years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Job Description Summary

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for the leadership and coordination of functions within their assigned district or another area of responsibility. The Operations Supervisor also operates clinically on every shift. The Operations Supervisor is held to this position description as well as their certification as a Paramedic position description.

The Operations Supervisor oversees front-line staff assigned to their districts and helps oversee day-to-day district and/or station-specific operations. Likewise, an Operations Supervisor may be assigned a functional area of responsibility and manage the staff and activities of that function. The Operations Supervisor also assists in the management of programs, systems, and services that support the overall operations. The Operations Supervisor is responsible for transmitting the organization’s values, communicating information and ideas, coaching and mentoring others, managing resources, and assuring that the organization’s core values are implemented. These responsibilities are accomplished and based on MedCare’s mission, vision, and values.

Qualifications
  • Current Ohio Paramedic certification is preferred. Must maintain current certifications and special certifications as deemed necessary for this position.
  • Minimum of three years of clinical practice experience in pre-hospital setting preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of leadership (formal or informal) experience preferred.
  • Current, valid driver’s license.
  • Must maintain an acceptable driving record per MedCare’s insurance carrier.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects at one time.
  • Ability to work well with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to work in an unstructured, non-routine environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Good planning and organizational skills.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to exercise independent judgment and seek guidance when appropriate.
  • Demonstrates excellence in leadership ability.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Computer knowledge to include but not limited to Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Assertive, highly motivated, and able to work with considerable independence.
  • Basic understanding of financial statements including balance sheets, income statements, and business process management.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with others and to influence others.
  • Administrative skills and technical competency necessary for effective management in areas of responsibility.
  • Knowledge of referring and receiving agencies within assigned region.
