Job summary

City of San José seeks a Student Intern focused on communications and public outreach to support District 2. Under close supervision, you will create content highlighting Councilmember Campos’ work and engage residents in the district.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in college and eager to learn, with the ability to edit short videos, design graphics using Canva or Adobe, take quality photos, and meet deadlines. Some evenings/weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• Editing short form videos
• Creating graphics using Canva or Adobe
• Taking strong photos and videos with a phone or camera
• Strong visual content judgment for engaging social media
• Able to take direction and incorporate feedback
• Organized and able to handle multiple content tasks and deadlines
• Solid writing skills for staff review
• Take initiative and produce content consistently
• Interest in public service and local government
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in an elected office

Responsibilities

• Create photos, videos, graphics, and other digital content for the Office’s social media channels
• Capture photos and videos of Councilmember Campos and community events
• Film and edit short form videos per direction from the Communications team
• Assist with setting up and editing planned videos
• Create graphics and flyers using Canva/Adobe per staff direction
• Prepare content for staff review and incorporate feedback
• Assist with scheduling and posting approved content
• Support content creation during events and organize Office media assets
