Job summary

Impellam Group seeks an experienced Distribution Design Engineer to lead multiple residential and commercial distribution projects onsite in Louisiana. You will meet with customers to determine service needs, design overhead and underground line extensions, and prepare construction drawings and cost estimates.

You will coordinate with engineers, project managers, and field crews, perform load calculations, and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Technical Diploma also considered).
• 4-7+ years of experience in utility design and field practices.
• Strong expertise in utility design and field practices.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple distribution projects for new residential and commercial businesses.
• Meet with customers to determine their service needs.
• Design overhead and underground line extensions.
• Estimate costs and prepare construction drawings.
• Coordinate construction commits.
• Lead pre-design and pre-construction meetings with stakeholders.
• Perform engineering calculations (load studies, voltage drop, etc.).
• Provide leadership and technical support to ensure design standards compliance.
• Assist Right of Way with permits and ROW documents.

Key responsibilities

• Manage multiple distribution projects for new residential and commercial businesses
• Meet with customers to determine their service needs
• Design overhead and underground line extensions
• Estimate costs and prepare construction drawings
• Coordinate construction commits
• Coordinate and lead pre-design and pre-construction meetings with internal and external stakeholders
• Perform engineering calculations to aid in planning and corrective measure projects (load studies, revenue justification, fault current, voltage drop, etc.)
• Provide leadership and technical support to local operations and contract compliance with regards to distribution design standards and practices
• Aid local Right of Way agent with acquiring permits and ROW documents

Requirements - education & experience

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in a related field (will also take a Technical Diploma)
• 4-7+ years of experience
• Strong expertise in utility design and field practices
