Job summary

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in Electrical Engineering/Electrical Engineering Technology or related certification.
  • 2–4 years related work experience accepted.
  • Pass EEI SO/PD II test.
  • Effective problem solving, multi-tasking and teamwork.
  • Knowledge of distribution operation and safety practices.
  • Ability to learn distribution practices and procedures.
  • Strong communication skills with customers and staff.
  • Live within 45-minute commute to Akron, OH.
  • Willing to work rotating shifts and overtime when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor day-to-day operation of regional distribution system.
  • Adhere to safety policies including APH and Operations Manual.
  • Recommend operational improvements and communicate system events.
  • Provide solid customer service.
  • Operate SCADA EMS, GIS, OMS, EDOA and related systems.
  • Analyze disturbances and restore normal configuration promptly.
  • Provide technical analysis and manage outages/load transfers.
  • Monitor system and weather conditions.
  • Coordinate staffing for emergencies.
  • Complete training to progress to Regional Distribution System Operator.
  • Understand bargaining unit agreements.

Thisposition,Akron, OH,reports under thegeneral supervision ofthe Regional Distribution Control Center staff. All candidates must live within a 45-minute commute time to the office location.

Responsibilitiesinclude:

  • Monitoringtheday-to-day operationsoftheregionaldistributionsystem
  • Demonstrating asolidcommitmenttoallaspectsofsafety, includingadherence tothe Accident Prevention Handbook (APH) and Manual of Operations
  • Recommendingoperationalimprovements andcommunicating systemeventstoappropriatepersonnel
  • Demonstratingsoundinternaland/orexternalcustomerservice
  • Operating the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Energy Management System (EMS), AutomatedMapping/FacilitiesManagement(GIS) computer system, PowerOn Outage Management System (OMS), Energy Delivery Outage Application (EDOA), DCCNotification System, aswellasradio and telephone systems
  • Analyzing andactingpromptly incasesofsystem disturbance sothatthesystem canberestored toa normal configuration

Qualifications:

  • Associate'sdegreeorhigherinElectrical Engineering/ElectricalEngineering Technology,or related certification from an accredited institution is required.
  • Or minimum of2- 4 years' related workexperience willbeconsidered.Related work experience includes work experiences with demonstrated understanding tooperate the distribution system.

  • Possess skillsinthedevelopment, collection, organization andanalysis ofinformation fromavariety of sources to develop switching orders and recommendations
  • Strongoralandwrittencommunication skills toeffectively communicate withcustomers, supervisors, peers, employees, and contractors involved with theconstruction, operation andmaintenance of the Transmission and Distribution facilities
