Primary Purpose of the Role

Responsible for coordinating and supervising all warehouse activities on a daily basis. Under the direction of the Distribution/Warehouse Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the receiving, storing, and shipping of product in a manner consistent with Company services and cost objectives.

  • Provide direct daily supervision of all warehouse personnel to ensure the safe, clean, and efficient operation of the facility. Through a coordinated effort with each Group Leader, supervise all inbound and outbound shipments to ensure they are correct and completed in a timely manner.
  • Evaluate housekeeping, security, and sanitation levels on a daily basis. Review warehouse operations daily to ensure the facility is neat, secure, and well-organized; and that damage to product, equipment, and the facility is prevented. Ensure that all safety procedures and policies are followed. Operate in compliance with OSHA and MSDS Standards.
  • Develop and implement the weekly work schedule for Receiving and Shipping to ensure effective and efficient operation. Make recommendations to the Distribution/Warehouse Manager on programs to improve department operations.
  • In collaboration with the Distribution/Warehouse Manager and Human Resources, develop and maintain a product staff by creating programs for motivating, training, and professional development. Assist with sound communication and motivational techniques in supervising, counseling, and disciplining subordinates.
  • Assist the Distribution/Warehouse Manager in planning space utilization to meet prescribed cost standards. Continually evaluate space utilization and suggest methods for improving layout. Supervise the relocation and consolidation of product as required.
  • Develop and direct a daily plan for allocating equipment for jobs. Ensure that equipment is utilized in the most effective manner. Ensure that a sound maintenance program is implemented and followed by all employees.
  • Make recommendations to the Distribution/Warehouse Manager regarding changes in schedule or staffing requirements relating to the efficient operation of workload.
  • Ensure proper stock rotation. Assist in conducting physical inventories as required.
  • Maintain professional conduct that promotes a team environment open to cooperation and continuous improvement.
  • Direct the quality process: work to maintain the operational budget. Assist in developing the budget when required.
  • Follow and Maintain all Food Safety, GMP and HACCP Guidelines
  • Will perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Requires knowledge and experience in, and an understanding of, warehouse operations and practices.
  • Familiarity with computers and material handling equipment is essential.
  • Ability to learn BPCS, PkMS and any other systems necessary for operations.
  • Experience with BPCS and PkMS are a plus.
  • Preferred Associate Degree
  • Minimum 5 years of related work experience
