Job summary

Acuity Brands in Des Plaines, IL is seeking a warehouse associate to support shipments, pallet handling, labeling and packing in a fast-paced distribution environment.

The role requires basic math, the ability to read manifests and packing lists, and strong teamwork. Prior warehousing and lean manufacturing experience is preferred; on-site, full-time hours with a safety-first culture.

You will contribute to 5S practices, assist with cycle counts, and ensure accurate product movement to docks.

Qualifications

• Must follow Safety, Health and Environmental guidelines.

• Basic computer skills required.
• Team environment work experience preferred.
• Experience in lean manufacturing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Process shipments with carriers and load trailers.
• Scan products and stage pallets in the correct area.
• Weigh, measure and label items accurately.
• Pack and label boxes; ensure correct sizes.
• Maintain 5S and safe, clean work area.
• Hit productivity targets hour by hour.

Job description

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

• Process shipments via UPS and FedEx and loading product into trailer.
• Process pallets systemically through LIDS, Scanning products into system.
• Weigh, measure, and label products.
• Processing boxes systematically through pack size and physically assemble.
• Package products, labelling and taping boxes.
• Breakdown of inbound pallets and systemic processing of receipts.
• Review quantity discrepancies and update system as needed.
• Wrap pallets utilizing wrap machine.
• Ensure labels left by distribution attendants are assigned to correct pallet.
• Put corner boards on product when appropriate.
• Move product to dock door when appropriate.
• Hit hour by hour productivity goal. Follow and maintain hour by hour board.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment ensuring 5S is followed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education (minimum education required):

• High School Diploma Equivalency/ GED.

Skills and Minimum Experience Required:

• Ability to follow all Safety, Health and Environmental guidelines, policies, rules and training.
• Basic math/reading comprehension aptitude.
• The ability to read and interpret a manifest, packing list and complex shipping codes.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Prior warehousing experience preferred, including experience working in a lean manufacturing environment.
