Job summary

ISA Certified Arborist is seeking an Onsite Overhead Groundman in North Carolina to support the construction and maintenance of overhead electrical distribution systems. You will assist line-workers in meeting project goals and participate in storm restoration efforts as needed.

The role requires following safety rules, lifting heavy loads, and working in challenging environments, including heights and confined spaces. OTA duties include vehicle and tool maintenance and basic rigging knowledge.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Able to travel long distances on short notice.
• Able to lift more than 50 lbs.
• Willing to work overtime when required.

Responsibilities

• Assist fellow line-workers in meeting project goals.
• Join storm restoration efforts as needed.
• Follow safety rules and policies while constructing/maintaining energized or de-energized overhead systems.
• Inspect rubber goods and PPE and wear them properly.
• String overhead wire, set poles and anchors.
• Help install transformers, arrestors, cutouts, cross-arms, insulators, switches and switchgear.
• Replace fuses in transformers and clear faulty circuits and systems.

Position Purpose:

The Overhead Groundman position is your first step to a rewarding career in the construction and maintenance of our nation's Power Grid. You willassistyour team in building, repairing, andmaintainingoverhead electrical distribution systems.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assistfellow line-workers in meeting project goals
• Join storm restoration efforts in times of need
• Follow company safety rules and policies while performing new construction or maintenance of energized high voltage systems and de-energized overhead work
• Inspect rubber goods and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and wearitproperly.
• String overhead wire, set poles and anchors
• Help install transformers, lightening arrestors, cutouts, cross-arms, insulators, switches, and switchgear
• Help replace fusesintransformers and clear faulty circuits and systems
• Maintain andoperatecompany vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order
• Perform rigorous physical labor
• Use company radio
• Understand basic rigging, hand lines, and lineman knot tying
• Receive and follow directions
• Have a basic knowledge of materials used in line work
• Identifyprimary and secondary voltage on a circuit
• Perform basic bucket rescue/escape
• Work at heights and confined spaces

You are occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. An employee performs this position in outside-weather conditions.
