Job summary

Prysmian Group in Rocky Mount, NC, is seeking a Distribution Associate – Material Handler to move material between warehouses and the manufacturing facility. You will operate company trucks, use forklift equipment, load/unload trucks, and support inventory control in shipping and receiving.

Qualified candidates will have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, proven forklift skills, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operates company owned/leased truck to shuttle material between facilities.
  • Loads and unloads product using pallet jack or forklift.
  • Performs cycle counts and physical inventories at offsite warehouses.
  • Coordinates with truck drivers for scheduled pickups at offsite warehouses.
  • Pulls and stages inventory at the cut lines.
  • Unloads and stores incoming reels and inventory from suppliers and facility.
  • Performs inventory transactions using scan gun or computer to ensure accuracy.

Job description

DISTRIBUTION ASSOCIATE – MATERIAL HANDLER POSITION

RESPONSIBILITIES: The material handler position primarily consists of operating a vehicle to transport material between warehouses and/or the manufacturing facility. Material handler will also assist in loading and unloading trucks, transferring reels to the cut lines, and otherwise moving material throughout the shipping and receiving department. Person will have a valid driver’s license and excellent driving record. Person will also have excellent forklift driving skills and display good organizational and time management skills. Responsibilities listed below cover some of the significant duties performed, but do not exclude other occasional work assignments not mentioned.



  • Safely operates company owned/leased truck to shuttle material between facilities.

  • Loads and unloads product using pallet jack or forklift.

  • Performs cycle counts and physical inventories at offsite warehouses.

  • Coordinates with truck drivers who have scheduled pickups at offsite warehouses.

  • Pulls and stages FG inventory at the cut lines.

  • Unloads and stores incoming reels and FG inventory from truck s from supplier and manufacturing facility.

  • Performs inventory transactions using a scan gun or computer to ensure inventory accuracy.

  • Empties scrap containers, trash barrels and performs other housekeeping duties.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:



  • Good physical condition, as you will be getting on and off forklift frequently

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Excellent forklift driving skills.

  • Excellent driving record

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Ability to work independently without constant direct supervision.

  • Ability to operate forklift, battery changer, banding equipment, dock boards, bolt cutters, pallet jacks, WMS platform, scan gun, calculator.

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
