Southern California Edison is hiring a Distribution Journeyman Lineman to install, repair, and maintain distribution and communication systems. The role requires climbing poles and structures, operating test equipment, and working with energized lines while prioritizing safety.

The ideal candidate holds a certified Journeyman Lineman card and a Class A license, with experience on utility poles and a strong safety record.

Qualifications

• Certified Journeyman Lineman with a Journeyman card.
• Weight under 285 pounds due to safety equipment constraints.
• Valid Class A driver’s license.
• Experience working with utility poles including ascending and descending climbing.

Responsibilities

• Installs, removes, maintains, and repairs overhead and underground distribution and communication systems.
• Installs and removes equipment such as poles, cross arms, towers, enclosures, ducts and piping and electrical or other apparatus such as transformers, switches, capacitors, pot heads, protective devices, cooling or insulating equipment.
• Installs, removes, splices, bonds, terminates, and tests conductor and cable (excluding paper insulated lead cable).
• Connects, tests, adjusts, repairs, and maintains electrical equipment and apparatus.
• Uses precautionary procedures, tools, and safety equipment when working on energized lines or equipment.
• Operates test equipment (amp, volt, ohm meters, phasing/cable test sets, fault finders, cable locators).
• Operates construction vehicles up to 1,200 lbs and related auxiliaries.
• Collaborates with others, instructs apprentices and helpers, and maintains a safety mindset.
