Job summary

Verdantas is seeking a talented Distribution Field Technician to join our team in the Grand Rapids or Petoskey, MI office. This hands-on role supports field operations, ensures quality and compliance across infrastructure projects, and contributes to safe electricity distribution.

You will map distribution systems, identify safety issues, coordinate meetings, perform inspections, and document field work. A lineman apprenticeship and Journeyman cert are required, with 2–5 years in distribution

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of lineman apprenticeship program and a Dept. of Labor Journeyman certificate.
• 2-5 years of experience with electric distribution systems.
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems and equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and electrical plans.
• Capable of outdoor work environments and occasional office work.
• Must be able to carry up to 50 lbs. and climb poles.
• Commitment to safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Identify system and safety issues in electrical systems and support clients during outages.
• Coordinate preconstruction meetings between clients and construction contractors.
• Perform construction inspections to ensure design and safety standards are met.
• Perform post-construction inspections supporting as-builts and reliable electricity distribution.
• Complete field documentation such as JSA forms, project field reports, field notes, and chain-of-custody forms.
• Maintain detailed records and effective communication with office staff.

Verdantas is seeking a talented Distribution Field Technician to join our team in the Grand Rapids or Petoskey, MI office. This hands‑on role focuses on supporting field operations, ensuring quality and compliance across a variety of infrastructure projects.

What You’ll Do:

• Map and inventory existing overhead and underground distribution systems in the field, supporting the design and providing input on system rebuilds and upgrades
• Identify system and safety issues in electrical systems, including supporting our clients when faced with emergency outages caused by storms or technical issues
• Coordinate preconstruction meetings between clients and construction contractors
• Perform construction inspections and spot checks to ensure construction meets design and safety standards
• Perform post-construction inspections supporting as-builts and ensuring safe and reliable electricity distribution for residential, commercial, and utility clients
• Completion of field documentation in a timely manner, such as job safety analysis (JSA) forms, project field reports, field notes, monitoring, and chain-of-custody forms
• Maintain detailed records of work performed and maintain strong communication with the office staff

What You Bring:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Completion of lineman apprenticeship program and a Dept. of Labor Journeyman certificate
• 2-5 years of experience with electric overhead and underground distribution systems
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems and equipment, including but not limited to: transformers, insulators, switches, conductor, elbows, and tees
• Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and electrical plans
• Capable of working primarily in an outdoor work environment and occasional office environment
• Must be able to carry up to 50 lbs. without accommodation and the ability to climb poles is a plus
• Commitment to safety protocols and regulatory compliance
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License

Salary Range:

$24-$27
