Job summary

United Utility Services is seeking a Distribution Engineer with an active PE license to lead QA/QC oversight on electric utility distribution projects. This role supports design review and construction activities, ensuring deliverables meet codes and client requirements. Remote work is possible.

The position emphasizes mentoring engineers and coordinating QC milestones with project managers, while maintaining safety and client standards across overhead and underground designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one US state.
• Typically 6+ years of experience in electric utility distribution engineering.
• Demonstrated experience performing technical reviews and/or leading QC/QA for engineering deliverables.
• Knowledge of electric utility distribution standards and codes (NESC, NEC, OSHA).
• Ability to review utility drawings, one-lines, specifications, and material standards; strong attention to detail.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to perform limited local travel.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Quality Control lead/reviewer for distribution engineering deliverables (designs, plans, calculations, specs, BOM).
• Follow QA/QC workflows to verify completeness, constructability, and compliance with client standards and codes.
• Perform independent technical reviews of overhead/underground distribution designs and related systems.
• Review staking sheets, plan-and-profile drawings, loading calculations, grounding, clearances, and equipment ratings; coordinate with protection/controls.
