Distribution Engineer/Designer (King of Prussia, PA)
About the Role: Join ExecuPOWER as a Distribution Engineer/Designer in King of Prussia, PA, and contribute to our mission of delivering premium engineering design and consulting services to the power industry. You'll handle diverse projects such as pole line design, transformer upgrades, and network redesigns while working with cutting-edge technologies and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering Expertise:
  • Investigate and resolve overloaded transformer issues.
  • Replace condemned utility poles and defective fused cutouts.
  • Redesign existing poles to meet current standards and rectify unsafe conditions.
  • Reconductor primary and secondary circuits and assist in voltage conversions.
  • Provide technical support for Dig Safe and mark-out scheduling for facility work.
Project Coordination:
  • Complete customer contact tasks and manage paperwork for pole petitions and easements.
  • Interface with line construction foremen and operations personnel on larger jobs.
Adherence to Standards:
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of primary and secondary pole line design, construction, and the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) clearance requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with typical utility construction standards.
Collaboration and Adaptability:
  • Engage in other engineering disciplines as needed to support company objectives.
  • Travel locally within the Greater Philadelphia region for job site visits (approximately 30% travel).
Qualifications:
Must-Have:
  • Bachelor of Science or Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering is a plus.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in distribution design and engineering.
  • Solid understanding of three-phase electrical power engineering principles gained through experience with line construction contractors, utility line work, or similar roles.
Preferred:
  • Experience with GIS tools like SmallWorld and Storms Work Management Systems.
  • Familiarity with 4kV, 15kV, 23kV, and 35kV networked facilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
