Job summary

POWERX Edge is seeking a Distribution Engineer I to support design, estimation, project coordination, and field inspection of electric power distribution for residential, commercial, and industrial customers. You will learn and apply standards to deliver safe, cost-effective solutions for clients.

The role emphasizes learning across Capital and O&M projects, with a focus on reliability and safety, under supervision and within a growing power infrastructure platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or General) preferred.
• 0-1 years of progressive engineering experience.
• EIT or PE license preferred.
• Knowledge of NEC, NESC, Distribution Bulletins and related standards preferred.

Responsibilities

• Learn to design, estimate, and coordinate the construction of overhead and underground power distribution systems.
• Learn to lead and manage Capital and O&M projects through all phases.

Job Summary

The Distribution Engineer I is responsible for learning and applying the engineering design, cost estimation, project coordination, and field inspection of electric power distribution projects. This role collaborates with other departments and delivers cost-effective, safe, and high-quality solutions for our clients, which aim to comply with industry standards and best practices.

Supervisory Responsibilities

None.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Learn to design, estimate, and coordinate the construction of overhead and underground power distribution systems for residential, commercial, and industrial customers.
• Learn to lead and manage \"Capital\" and \"O&M\" projects through all phases of development, from concept to closeout.
• Learn to identify and implement innovative engineering solutions to improve system reliability, cost-efficiency, and safety.

Safety & Quality

• Learn and practice the company’s safety culture, consistently applying the highest standards for personal and team safety practices.
• Seek guidance and ensure his engineering work product meets internal quality standards and complies with regulatory guidelines.

Training and Development

• Learn and develop the ability to interpret and apply construction bulletins, standards, and engineering procedures.
• Stay current with evolving industry trends and participate in ongoing training and certification programs.

Field Inspection & Compliance

• Seek guidance and ensure his engineering work product meets internal quality standards and complies with regulatory guidelines.
• Participates during recommendations and engineering modifications which ensure system integrity and code adherence.

Research and Report Writing

• Learn how to prepare accurate project documentation, reports, and technical analysis.
• Maintain records related to project progress, cost, and compliance.

Client Relations and Support

• Serve as a primary technical contact for client stakeholders, ensuring responsiveness and technical excellence corresponding to the level of expertise associated to the position.
• Address client concerns with professionalism and provide clear, actionable solutions.
• Learn how to build and maintain good client partnerships that support long-term engagement and satisfaction.

Attributes/Abilities

• Must have a satisfactory background/MVR check.
• Must pass a pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, and\/or random drug test.

• Possess verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of customer tools such as: JETS, GIS, SOCKET, TCMS & DistView is preferred.
• Knowledge of NEC, NESC, Distribution Bulletins, Engineering Handbook, Distribution Specifications, Distribution Operating Procedures, ARC Flash Requirements, Metering Blue Book & Franchise Manual is preferred.
• Basic customer service skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently or part of a team.
• Basic project management skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Acrobat.

Experience and Education

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or General) preferred.
• 0-1 years of progressive engineering experience.
• EIT or PE license preferred.
• Basic technical skills and familiarity with industry standards.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work safely around electrical and mechanical hazards.
• Operates light measuring instruments.
• Potential minimum exposure to various conditions, including dirt, heat, fumes, smoke, water, noise, vibration, grease, oil, and dust.
• Requires field work in industrial environments.
• Ability and willingness to work occasional excess straight time as needed.
• May require travel 25% of the time.
