  • Assist in planning maintenance activities and system improvements to minimize interruptions.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by following safety standards and procedures.

Job Title: Distribution Engineer

Location: Reform, Alabama (Onsite)

Alternate Location: Tuscaloosa/Northport

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated Distribution Engineer to support the design, development, and management of electrical distribution systems. This position is open to both recent engineering graduates and experienced engineers with up to 10 years of relevant experience. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring distribution systems are safe, reliable, efficient, and compliant with industry standards while supporting projects throughout the entire lifecycle. This position is based in the Tuscaloosa/Northport, Alabama area. Candidates must currently reside in the area or be willing to relocate. No per diem will be provided.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical distribution systems, including overhead and underground power distribution infrastructure.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation.
  • Analyze distribution system performance and recommend improvements for reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Perform engineering studies including load flow analysis, voltage drop calculations, and fault current analysis.
  • Support and manage distribution engineering projects from concept through implementation.
  • Ensure all designs and projects comply with applicable safety standards, environmental requirements, and industry regulations.
  • Conduct engineering reviews and quality assurance checks on project designs and deliverables.
  • Assist in planning maintenance activities and system improvements to minimize service interruptions.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in electric utility distribution engineering.
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution system design principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with distribution system modeling and engineering software.
  • Understanding of utility industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements.
  • Project management or project coordination experience.
  • Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification or progress toward professional licensure.
