Job summary

American Electric Power in Texas seeks a Dispatcher Associate to assist in the safe operation and restoration of the distribution system. The role requires close adherence to SOPD II testing and on-call readiness within a 30-minute radius of the reporting location.

You will coordinate outages, track field crew positions, and ensure accurate record keeping, while progressing through SOPD-based training to advance within the dispatcher track.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in electrical or electronic technology required.
• Bachelor of Science in any field or equivalent education/experience.
• Must pass SOPD II and related assessments for this position.

Responsibilities

• Promote and enforce the Company’s Safety and Health programs.
• Be knowledgeable and adhere to written company policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate high ethical standards and support Corporate Compliance.
• Effectively operate company communication equipment.
• Track crew locations and ongoing work on the distribution system.
• Dispatch service personnel to outages and emergencies.
• Authorize energizing and restoration of distribution facilities.
• Maintain accurate outage records.
• Maintain records of abnormal and defective equipment.
