Job summary

Duquesne Light Company, headquartered in downtown Pittsburgh, seeks a Distribution Technician to perform design and field work on the distribution system and subtransmission projects. You will prepare drawings, specs, and permits, and manage records in Maximo, NJUNS and DMS.

Role requires knowledge of NEC/NESC, CAD/GIS tools, and strong customer interaction skills. A degree in engineering or related field is preferred, with pathway for experienced technicians through Step levels.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, up to 1 year of related work experience preferred; or Associates degree in Electrical Engineering Technology (ABET accreditation will no longer be required)
In lieu of degree, seven years of Journey Lineworker level field experience may qualify for a Distribution Technician position
Minimum of three years’ experience as a step 7 Technician to advance to a Step 10 Technician
Must pass standardized TECH test and demonstrate knowledge of safety handbook and NEC/NESC codes/standards
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and CAD/GIS tools

Responsibilities

Perform design and field work for distribution facilities and subtransmission projects
Prepare drawings, specs, calculations, and permits; update DMS, Maximo and NJUNS records
Coordinate projects and communicate with customers, municipal and utility representatives
Inspect field work for compliance with company specs and codes
Assist GIS technicians with digital data collection and asset records
