Job summary

Georgia Power is seeking a Strategic Project Portfolio Construction Coordinator to oversee overhead and underground utility construction on a statewide scale. This role reports to the SPP Distribution Construction Supervisor and manages multiple projects to meet safety, budget, productivity, and reliability goals.

The successful candidate will coordinate resources, participate in pre-construction meetings, and communicate with Engineering and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Extensive Distribution engineering and/or construction experience.
  • Proficient in computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel), Distview, ARMS, CSS, TCMS, and JETS preferred.
  • Ability to analyze drawings, blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other project documentation.
  • Seven years of Distribution Experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating contract resources to ensure safety, budgetary needs, productivity, schedules, customer satisfaction and Reliability goals.
  • Attend pre-construction meetings, quality control, and final walkdowns of assigned projects.
  • Work with Engineering, internal and external customers, Stakeholder Engagement, Forestry, Land Acquisition, Claims, etc. to support regional partners and storm restoration plans.

Job description

The Strategic Project Portfolio Construction Coordinator position at GPC is a critical role responsible for overseeing both overhead and underground utility construction.

Job Summary:
  • Reports to the SPP Distribution Construction Supervisor.
  • Manages overhead and underground utility construction projects.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include (but not limited to): Coordinating contract resources to ensure that the SPP Achieves Safety Excellence, budgetary needs, productivity, schedules, customer satisfaction and Reliability goals. The successful candidate will be responsible for circuit strategy, attending pre-construction meetings, quality control, and final walkdowns of assigned projects. To be effective in this position, the incumbent must work well with and communicate with Engineering, internal and external customers, Stakeholder Engagement, Forestry, Land Acquisition, Claims, etc. This job will require an alternate work schedule to accomplish the listed responsibilities. This person will have to communicate well and work closely with our Region Partners to maintain a reliable system during construction of SPP projects. The SPP Coordinator will also work closely with region leadership to support their storm restoration plans.

Job Requirements:
Education:
  • High School education or equivalent.
Experience:
  • Extensive Distribution engineering and/or construction experience required.

Other Requirements:
  • Work schedule: Monday through Thursday, 4 x 10 workdays. Additional hours may be required for Storm duty, plant outages, etc., including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Available for Storm Duty.
  • Valid Driver’s License is required.
