Qualifications

Description

We are looking for an experienced Distribution Center Operations Manager to lead the receiving, distribution, and material handling operations within our distribution center. In this role, you will coordinate the movement of products and parts while ensuring efficient, safe, and timely delivery performance. You will drive operational excellence through lean processes, collaborate closely with manufacturing and distribution partners, and lead teams in meeting customer requirements while optimizing transportation and distribution costs. The target starting base salary for this position is $90,000 - $95,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Steelcase considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

You'll Support Meaningful Work By:
  • Managing and coordinating the receiving, storage, and distribution of products and parts.
  • Establishing lean procedures that maximize customer satisfaction through timely and accurate deliveries.
  • Coordinating distribution center activities with manufacturing facilities and field distribution centers to ensure seamless product flow.
  • Facilitating logistics activities and distribution processes to meet customer requirements and critical delivery timelines.
  • Making operational decisions that maximize trailer utilization and minimize transportation costs.
  • Assigning and overseeing duties related to incoming and outgoing shipments, inventory movement, and merchandise handling.
  • Leading initiatives that improve productivity, quality, safety, and operational efficiency.
  • Monitoring key operational metrics and implementing corrective actions to drive performance improvements.
  • Managing department budgets and resources to achieve business objectives while controlling costs.
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies, quality standards, and safety requirements.
  • Leading, developing, and coaching distribution center employees across multiple shifts.
  • Driving employee engagement, accountability, and performance through effective communication and leadership.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a distribution center.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or management experience in a distribution warehouse environment.
  • Experience managing distribution center operations, including receiving, shipping, and material handling functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and achieve operational objectives.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment while demonstrating adaptability and sound judgment.
  • Experience working with quality systems, safety requirements, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and decision-making skills.
Desired Skills And Experience
  • Spanish Language proficiency is strongly preferred.
  • Experience supervising 40+ employees within a distribution environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with employees, customers, vendors, and business partners.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to think strategically and globally.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen, including budgeting and cost management experience.
  • Proven project leadership skills and the ability to successfully manage operational improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of SAP and distribution management systems.
  • Understanding of engineering methods, quality systems, inventory management processes, and safety requirements.
  • Strong delegation, follow-through, and execution skills.
