Job summary

Walmart is seeking a General Manager in Sterling, IL to lead a high-volume grocery distribution center, driving safety, quality, service, and productivity while delivering strong financial results.

The role focuses on strategic planning, workforce development, and continuous improvement, with responsibility for safety culture, compliance, and stakeholder relationships within a large, dynamic operation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field and 3 years experience in a senior management role within an operations/distribution/logistics/retail environment, supervising, evaluating, mentoring, and developing managers/supervisors; managing workload; and participating in the hiring and promotion of employees facility-wide
• Alternatively, 2 years experience as a Walmart Logistics Assistant General Manager supervising, evaluating, mentoring, and developing associates; managing associate workload; and participating in the hiring and promotion of associates
• Or 5 years experience in a senior management role as an operations/distribution/logistics/retail environment, supervising, evaluating, mentoring, and developing managers/supervisors; managing workload; and participating in the hiring and promotion of employees facility-wide

Responsibilities

• Develop, execute, and oversee the facility’s business plan to achieve operational goals related to safety, quality, service, productivity, and financial performance.
• Identify and implement strategic improvements that enhance efficiency, optimize resources, and support long-term growth.
• Lead complex distribution operations while maintaining alignment with organizational priorities and customer expectations.
• Monitor performance metrics and operational trends to drive data-informed decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Direct the financial performance of the distribution center by managing budgets, controlling expenses, and maximizing asset utilization.
