Job summary

Qualifications

  • Attention to detail to ensure correct item and quantity.
  • Material identification is critical to detect quality issues.
  • Basic computer and math skills for scan gun and shipping programs.

Responsibilities

  • Receives pick tickets and prioritizes by ship date.
  • Coordinates daily shipments with customer service.
  • Pulls and assembles hardware, wireway, and wire products.
  • Packages material into boxes and onto skids.
  • Scans material to verify accuracy and completeness.
  • Affixes labels and packing lists; prepares shipping documents.
  • Operates stretch wrap machine; forklifts for loading.
  • Logs shipped orders in computer system.
  • Assists with cycle counts and inventories.

Job description

DISTRIBUTION ASSOCIATE - GENERAL SUMMARY

Person in this position will work in different areas of the distribution center as needed. He or she may be assigned to an OEM kitting work cell, the daily desk, or other general assignments. He or she will display the ability to work closely with others and as a team. Responsibilities listed below cover some of the significant duties performed, but do not exclude other occasional work assignments not mentioned.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Receives pick tickets from the shipping clerk and prioritizes them based on ship date and carrier
  • Coordinates daily shipments with customer service
  • Pulls and assembles hardware, wireway, and wire products according to the customer’s order
  • Packages material into boxes and onto skids
  • Scans all material with a scan gun to verify accuracy and completeness
  • Affixes appropriate labels and packing lists
  • Prepares appropriate shipping documents
  • Operates a stretch wrap machine to secure boxes and reels to a skid
  • Operates a forklift to load customer orders onto outgoing trucks
  • Logs all shipped orders into computer system
  • Assists with cycle counts, physical inventories, and other inventory control activities
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma; warehouse/distribution experience
  • English: proficient in reading, writing, and verbal communication
  • Good physical condition, as you will be walking and standing the majority of the day
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Above average forklift driving skills
  • Attention to detail required in correct item and quantity
  • Material identification is extremely critical to detect quality issues
  • Basic computer skills required to operate scan gun and shipping programs on computer
  • Basic math skills required to count items
  • Initiative needed to drive your own performance. Direct supervision is always available but is not over your shoulder
  • Ability to operate forklift, banding equipment, stretch-wrap machine, scales, dock boards, air drill, staple gun, nail gun, bolt cutters, pallet jacks, computers, scan gun, calculator
